The Stands-Behinds
(a.k.a. The Wedding Party)
The stands-behinds are our “bridesmaids” and “groomsmen”…except no one here is a maiden and our inner circles don’t need to follow gender lines. The stands-behinds are the important people in our lives that we have asked to support us personally as we dance through this marriage ceremony.
Though Linda and Dylan separately brought 4 of these humans into their lives, all these stands-behinds have already been woven into the basket that holds the couple and the whole family. At the wedding, they will be helping us each step into the ceremony and marriage in beauty and power.
Linda’s Stands-Behinds: The OGS
Janae Fullenkamp
Middle School-High School - El Sobrante, CA
2nd Grade-High School - Napa, CAKate Linneman
Was there a time before Kate and Janae? I think not. From proms, to starting businesses and careers, to all the relationships, to babies, and beyond…these are the OGs. Linda, Kate and Janae went to middle and high school together, and stayed in touch during the college years in different states through actual pen and paper letters. Life brought them all back to the Bay Area when they had young kids, and they all shared time, and Board Service at the same co-op preschool. Janae has been Linda’s bodyworker and herbal medicinalist forever, as Linda has been Janae’s bridge to pulling through her business creation. Kate is our badass elementary school Principal friend who educates us all about how to deal with the capital W-WORLD out there. Can you explain friendships this long in words? Not really. But there’s a few.
Linda’s Stands-Behinds: Can these be the “new” friends if it’s been 2 decades?
Dorian Eidhin
Grad School at SF State - El Sobrante, CALinda and Dorian met because they were both tutoring composition undergrads in a learning center at SF State. The went for a co-working coffee one day to study and grade papers in company, and then they just never stopped doing THAT. Linda was Dorian’s teacher’s aide in some courses at Diablo Valley College, where he is still a professor and the former English Dean. You can find Linda and Dorian having coffee or a picnic while solving life’s bureaucratic forms and challenges—or planning crafts and parties—in good company.
Energy Class and Ceremonies - S.F.H. R. Bremner
Linda and H.R. met when he moved down from Canada to take a two-year class in personal energy and ceremony that Linda was also taking. On the first day’s gathering, Linda knew HIM! He is going to be my friend in this class….or for the next decades and beyond, it turns out. H.R. has been a fabulous and steady celebrant through Linda’s wins, and her generous and huge-hearted life guard in the worst of times. H.R. has his own private therapy practice based out of the Castro, and he took jazz dance as a young man, so you know he’s good people!
Dylan’s Stands-Behinds: The University of the Pacific Roomies
Austin Roelofs
Bakersfield, CABoston, MAJulian Zabalbeascoa
Austin and Julian were Dylan’s housemates for the last two years of undergrad college at UOP. The geologist and musician, Austin, the rancher turned English major and Basque novelist, Julian, and the physical therapist and photographer, Dylan. After college as families started forming, this trio wrote and produced a number of concept albums including the “Thank God for Jesus” album of fake Christian rock, and “The Birthing Album” by The Bakersfield Ultrasound (“Placenta Polenta,” anyone?!).
Dylan’s Stands-Behinds: The UCSF PTs
Joe Houghtaling
Petaluma, CAPetaluma, CACale Englehardt
Dylan and Cale met first because they were in the same year of Physical Therapy grad school at UCSF. The story goes that Cale’s PT friend Joe needed help moving a gigantic, heavy executive desk down a flight of stairs and Dylan said, “sure.” Moving friends are forever friends. Two decades and half a dozen kids between them later, this trio is still doing multiple family trips and events every season…and getting in some guys adventure time, too. Joe and his wife Dinah were the first to move to Petaluma, and like moths to the flame, we all followed suit. These two are also the reason we all ended up with a “Lowrider Canoe.”
